Notwithstanding anything contained in section 2 of this Act, a member of Village Council in office immediately before the commencement of this Act, whether elected or nominated, shall continue in office during the life of the Village Council concerned unless he is otherwise disqualified or terminated or the Village Council is dissolved sooner under relevant provisions of the principal Act.
