Investigations by Special Crime Investigation Unit.- The State Government shall ensure that in all urban Police Stations and those in the crime-prone rural areas, a Special Crime Investigation Unit, headed by an officer not below the rank of Sub- Inspector of Police, is created with an appropriate strength of officers and staff, for investigating organized, economic and heinous crimes. The personnel posted to this unit shall not be diverted to any other duty, except under very special circumstances with the written permission of the Director General of Police.
