Enforcement of attendance of witnesses and examination of witnesses If any person on whom a summon to attend as witness or to produce any document has been served, fails to comply with the summon, the officer by whom the summon has been issued under section 81 may – (a) issue a bailable warrant of arrest; (b) order him to furnish security for appearance; or (c) impose upon him a fine not exceeding five thousand rupees. Provided that the person so summoned may apply for examination as a witness on commission for justifiable reasons or through video conferencing, as the case may be, and in such case, the person may not be liable to any of the measures mentioned above.
