Section 447

Application of fines

[A Judicial Magistrate of the first class or a Metropolitan Magistrate, as the case may be,] imposing a fine under this Act may, if he thinks fit, direct the whole or any part thereof to be applied in compensating any person for any detriment which he may have sustained, by the act or default in respect of which the fine is imposed or in or towards payment of the expenses of the prosecution. Substituted by Act 12 of 1983, Section 17 and Sch., for "A Magistrate" (w.e.f. 18/05/1983).
