(1) The Chancellor shall be appointed by the Sponsor for a period of five years with prior concurrence of the Visitor in such manner and on such terms and conditions as may be specified by the Statutes: Provided that after expiration of the term of five years, the Chancellor shall be eligible for re-appointment. (2) The Sponsor will have the right to discontinue the services of the Chancellor before the expiration of the full-term. (3) The Chancellor shall preside at the meeting of the Board of Governors and shall, when the Visitor is not present, preside at the Convocation of the University for conferring Degrees, Diplomas, Designations or Certificates. (4) The Chancellor is empowered to remove the Vice Chancellor after due enquiry. It will be open to the Chancellor to suspend the Vice Chancellor during enquiry depending upon the seriousness of the charges, as he may deem fit. (5) The Chancellor shall have such powers as may be conferred on him by this Act or the Statutes made thereunder.
