(1) This Act may be called the Meghalaya Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Act, 2014. (2) It extends to the urban areas of Meghalaya. (3) It shall be deemed to have come into force on and from the 10th November, 2014. (4) The provisions of this Act shall not apply to the land, premises and trains owned and controlled by the railways. (5) The Operation of this Act in the Shillong (Administered Areas) Municipality and other urban areas of Meghalaya shall be subject to the trading license issued by the Autonomous District Councils of Meghalaya wherever required.
