(1) This Act may be called the Meghalaya Prohibition of manufacture, Sale, Use and Throwing of Low Density Plastic Bags Act, 2001. (2) It extends to the whole State of Meghalaya. (3) It shall come into force on such date as this State Government may by a notification in the Official Gazette appoint. Provided that the State Government may appoint different data for different places or areas.
