(1) This Act may be called the Medicinal and Toilet Preparations (Excise Duties) Act, 1955. (2) It extends to the whole of India. (3) It shall come into force on such date1 as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint. Came into force on 01/04/1957, vide S.R.O. 892, dated 9th March, 1957, published in the Gazette of India, 1957, Pt. II, Sec. 3, p. 602, dated 23rd March, 1957.
