(1) Subject to any rules made under this Act by the State Govera- ment, an Inspector may within the limits ofhisjurisdiction- (a) enter, during such· hours as may be prescribed ?nd with..?uch assistance, if arty, as may be necessary, any premises which is;; or which he has reason to believe as, a shop or an establishn:tent ; . (b) inspect·any registers, other .documents and notices maintained under this Act or the rules made thereunder ; 1 (c) record on the spot or otherwise the statement of any person which he may -consider necessary for carrying out the purposes of this Act :- · · Provided that no person shall be compelled to answer any question or give any evidence tending to incriminate- himself ; and '- . (d) exercise such other powers as may be prescribed for carrying out the purposes of this Ac!, 9 (2) The Inspector shall for the purposes of any inquiry under this Act have the same powers regarding the summoning and attendance of witnesses and 'production or documents as a Civil Court has under the Code of Civil Procedure, 190:-; (Y of 1908).
