Directions from the Government.—(1) Notwithstanding anything contained in this Act it shall be lawful for the Government to issue directions to any Gram Panchayat or Zilla Parishad in matters relating to State and National Policies and such directions shall be binding on the Gram Panchayat or Zilla Parishad. (2) The Government may:— (a) call for any record, register or any other document in possession under the control of any Gram Panchayat or Zilla Parishad; 34 (b) require any Gram Panchayat or Zilla Parishad to furnish in return, plan, estimate, statement, account or statistics; and (c) require any Gram Panchayat or Zilla Parishad to furnish any information or report on any matter connected with such Gram Panchayat or Zilla Parishad.
