Election of Up-Pradhan.—(1) Every Gram Panchayat shall, as soon as may be, elect one of its members to be Up-Pradhan. (2) In the event of occurrence of any vacancy by reason of death, resignation, removal or otherwise in the office of Up-Pradhan, the Gram Panchayat shall elect another member to be the Up-Pradhan: Provided that no election shall be held if the vacancy is for a period of less than six months.
