Section 21

Appointment of administrator.

The State Government shall appoint a person as an administrator to exercise the powers and perform the duties and functions of a municipality until a municipality is constituted for such area under this Act: Provided that the period of such appointment shall not exceed six months: Provided further that an administrator appointed under the provisions of the Manipur Municipalities Act, 1976 (Manipur Act 26 of 1976 ) on or before the 12th day of October, 1993 shall be deemed to have been validly appointed under that Act and the term of such administrator shall cease to have effect on the commencement of this Act.
