(1) Where the controt of avillage road or track has been taken over by a highway authority as aresult ot a notification issued undet sub-section (1) 0t Section 24 and the ownership of the land constltuting the road or track vests in a landlord or proprietary body, the highway authority shall acquire by direct negotiation or, failing negotiation, by resort to the Land Acquisition Act, 1894, the reversionaty rlghts, if any, of the tandlord or proprietary body to the land by paying suitable compensation. (2) In determining the compensation payable under sub-section (1), regard shall be had to the fact that the reversionary right is very remote. (3) The amount, if any, payable by the proprietor under sub- section (3) of Section 25 may be set off against the compensation payable to him under sub-section (1).
