In section 2 of the Principal Act,— of sectlon 2. ~ (1) In clause (a)— (D for the words “ancient monuments” occurring in the first line, the words “ancient monument” shall be substituted; , (ii) for the word “imertion” occurring in the second line, the word “inscription” shall be substituted. (2) After ctause (b), the following clause (bb) shall be inserted, namely,— “(bb) ‘arehaeological officer’ means the archaeologieal oflicer appointed by the State Government for the purpose of this Act;”. (3) For $3.13: (k), the following shall be substituted, namely,— “(k) ‘proteCted area’ means any site or area declared to be protected area under section 4 for the purpose of this Act;”. (4) For clause ( l ), the following shall be substituted, namely,— “(1) ‘protected monument’ means the monument declared to be protectd menument unier section 4 of the Act;”. Amendment ,
