( 1 ) The Chancellor may, on the recommendation of the Management Council supported by a majority of not less than two-thirds of its members present at its meeting, such majority comprising not less than one-half of its members, remove the name of any person from the register of graduates for such period as the Chancellor thinks fit, if such person has been convicted by a court for any offence which, in the opinion of the Management Council, is a serious offence involving moral turpitude. ( 2 ) No action under this section shall be taken unless the person concerned is, as prescribed by Statutes, given an opportunity of being heard in his defence.
