(1) Officers of Prisons.—For every prison there shall be a Superintendent, †† (who may be a Deputy Inspector General of Prisons) a Medical Officer (who may also be the Superintendent), ** X X X a jailor and such other officers as the State Government thinks necessary; provided that ‘(the State Government of Maharashtra‡:] may § x x x declare by order in writing that in any prison specified in the order the office of jailor shall be held by the person appointed to be Superintendent. †‡ (2) Where one or more deputy Superintendents are appointed for a prison, they shall, subject to the general or special orders of the Accommodation for prisoners. * Deleted by Bombay Act XLV of 1952 (5.2). † Renumbered as sub-sec.
