( 1 ) This Act may be called the Maharashtra Official Languages Act, 1964. ( 2 ) It extends to the whole of the State of Maharashtra. ( 3 ) This sections and section 3 shall come into force on the 26 th day of January 1965; and the remaining provisions of this Act shall come into 1 , 2 force on such date as the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette , appoint; and different dates may be appointed for different provisions of this Act or different matters referred to in those provisions.
