Disinfection of buildings, etc.— (1) If the Commissioner is of opinion that the cleansing or disinfecting of a building, or of a part of a building, or of any article therein likely to retain infection would tend to prevent or check the spread of any dangerous disease he may, by written notice, require the owner or occupier of such building to cleanse of disinfect such building or part thereof or article therein, and, if it shall appear to the Commissioner necessary to vacate the said building for such time as shall be prescribed in the said notice: (2) Provided that, if in the opinion of the Commissioner, the owner or occupier is from poverty or other cause effectually to comply with such requisition the Commissioner may cause the building or part 1 Sections 418, 419 and 420 were repealed by Bombay Weights and Measures Act, 1932 (Bom. 15 of 1932), Second Schedule, Part II, which came into effect in Bombay City on 1st August 1945, vide G.
