With the previous sanction of the Appropriate Authority, a Canal Officer duly empowered in this behalf may at any time cancel any irrigation agreement and in such case, the compensation for damages in respect of any land under agreement shall be equal to the amount of the canal revenue which would have been payable in respect of such land for the remainder of the period of the agreement.
