1 [13-A. Powers of Atiyat Courts when holding inquiries under this Act.- Every Atiyat Court shall, when holding an inquiry under this Act have the same powers as are vested in a Civil Court under the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908 (V of 1908), in respect of the following matters, namely :- ( a ) enforcing the attendance of any person and examining him on oath; (b) compelling the production of documents and other material objects; ( c ) issuing commission for examination of witnesses; ( d ) such other matters as may be prescribed; and every inquiry or investigation by an Atiyat Court shall be deemed to be a judicial proceeding within the meaning of sections 193 and 228 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 (XLV of 1860).]
