( 1 ) The Dean of the faculty shall be wholetime salaried officer and shall be appointed for a period of three years by the Executive Council on the recommendation of the selection committee as prescribed by the Statutes. The Dean shall be eligible for reappointment for a further period of three years : Provided that, no member of the Executive Council, other than the Vice-Chancellor shall be a member of such a committee. ( 2 ) No person shall hold the office of Dean beyond the age of sixty five years. ( 3 ) The Dean shall perform such functions as may be prescribed by Statutes, Ordinances and regulations made under this Act.
