( 1 ) This Act may be called the Maharashtra District Planning Committees (Constitution and Functions) Act, 1998. ( 2 ) It extends to whole of the State of Maharashtra, excluding the Scheduled Areas declared by the President of India, from time to time, in exercise of the powers conferred by paragraph 6 of the Fifth Schedule to the Constitution of India. ( 3 ) It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by 1 notification in the Official Gazette , appoint.
