MAHARASHTRA ACT No. XL OF 19631 [THE MAHARASHTRA DELETION OF THE TERM “FAMINE” (FROM LAWS APPLICABLE TO THE STATE) ACT, 1963] [ 11TH NOVEMBER 1963 ] An Act to delete the term “famine” from all laws in the State of Maharashtra. WHEREAS, the Agricultural situation in the State is constantly watched by the State Government, and relief measures as warranted by the situation are provided as soon as signs of scarcity conditions are apparent, so that there is now no scope for famine conditions to develop; AND WHEREAS the term “famine” in the Bombay State Famine Relief Fund Act, 1958 and other laws on the subject in their application to the State has now become obsolete, and requires therefore to be deleted therefrom; It is hereby enacted in the Fourtheenth Year of the Republic of India as follows:—
