( 1 ) This Act may be called the Maharashtra Animal Preservation Act, 1976. ( 2 ) It extends to the whole of the State of Maharashtra. ( 3 ) It shall come into force on such date 1 as the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette , appoint. ( 4 ) It shall apply to cows 2 [bulls or bullocks] and to scheduled animals.
