( 1 ) The Director of Extension Education of each University shall be a whole-time salaried officer of the University and shall be appointed by the Vice-Chancellor on the recommendation of 1 [the Recruitment Board] constituted under section 58. ( 2 ) The Director shall work directly under the Vice-Chancellor and shall be responsible for the co-ordination of all extension education programmes of the University in close co-operation with the Deans of Faculties and other officers. ( 3 ) The Director shall exercise such other powers and perform such other duties as are laid down by or under this Act and as may be prescribed.
