Section 15

Chancellor.

( 1 ) The Governor of Maharashtra, shall be the Chancellor of each of the Universities. ( 2 ) The Chancellor shall, by virtue of his office, be the head of the University and shall, when present, preside at any convocation of the University. ( 3 ) The Chancellor may call for his information any papers relating to the administration of the affairs of the University and such requisition shall be complied with by the University. ( 4 ) Every proposal to confer any honorary degree shall be subject to confirmation by the Chancellor. ( 5 ) The Chancellor may, by order in writing, annul any proceeding of any officer or authority of the University, which is not in conformity with this Act, the Statutes or the Regulations, or which is prejudicial to the interest of the University : Provided that, before making any such order, he shall call upon the officer or authority to show cause why such an order should not be made, and if any cause is shown within the time specified by him in this behalf, he shall consider the same. ( 6 ) The Chancellor shall exercise such other powers and perform such other duties as are laid down by this Act.
