- S. 1(1) This Act may be called the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019
- S. 2Section 2 defines key terms used throughout the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019.
- S. 3No person or establishment shall discriminate against a transgender person on any of the following grounds, namely:— Def
- S. 4(1) A transgender person shall have a right to be recognised as such, in accordance with the provisions of this Act
- S. 5Section 5 allows transgender individuals to apply to the District Magistrate for a certificate of identity, with parents or guardians applying for minors.
- S. 6Section 6 mandates the District Magistrate to issue a transgender identity certificate and record gender in official documents.
- S. 7Section 7 allows transgender persons to apply for a revised gender certificate after undergoing gender change surgery.
- S. 8Section 8 mandates the government to ensure transgender persons' full participation, welfare, rehabilitation, and cultural engagement in society.
- S. 9Section prohibits discrimination against transgender individuals in employment matters including recruitment and promotion.
- S. 10Section mandates establishments to comply with the Act and offer prescribed facilities to transgender persons.
- S. 11Section mandates establishments to appoint a complaint officer for handling violations of the Act.
- S. 12Section 12 protects transgender individuals from separation from family and ensures their right to reside and use household facilities without discrimination.
- S. 13Section mandates inclusive education and sports opportunities for transgender persons in funded institutions and welfare schemes for their livelihood.

- S. 19Section allocates funds to the National Council for implementing the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act.
- S. 20The provisions of this Act shall be in addition to, and not in derogation of, any other law for the time being in force
- S. 21Section 21 protects government entities and officers from legal actions for actions taken in good faith under the Act.
- S. 22Section 22 empowers the appropriate government to create rules for implementing the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019, including application procedures and welfare measures.
- S. 23Section 23 allows the Central Government to issue orders to resolve difficulties in implementing the Act, but only within two years of its commencement.
