Timber, etc., not to be deposited or hole made in street without permission.-(1) No person shall, without the written permission of the Council or otherwise than in accordance with the conditions of such permission, make a hole in any street or deposit on any street any timber, stone, brick, earth or other material that has been or intended to be used for building. Such permission shall be terminable at the discretion of the Council, and when such permission is granted to any person, he shall, at his own expense, cause such material or such hole to be sufficiently fenced and enclosed to the satisfaction of the Council until the materials are removed, or the hole is filled up or otherwise made secure, and shall cause such material or hold to be sufficiently lighted during the night. (2) Whoever contravenes any of the provisions of sub-section (1) shall be punished with fine which may extend to twenty-five rupees, and with further fine which may extend to ten rupees for every day on which such contravention continues after the date of the conviction for such offence.
