Destruction of animals and articles seized under section 267.- (1) When any animal, food, drink, drug, utensil or vessel is seized under sub-section (2) of section 267, it may be destroyed by the officer making the seizure with the consent of the owner or the person in whose possession it was found. (2) The officer destroying any animal, food, drink, drug, utensil or vessel under sub section (1) shall report such destruction to the Health Officer. (3) If any food, drink, or drug seized under sub-section (2) of section 267 is of perishable nature and is in the opinion of the officer making the seizure, infected, unsound, wholesome or unfit for human consumption or medical treatment, it may, with the previous sanction of the Health Officer be destroyed without the consent referred to in sub-section (1). (4) The expenses incurred in taking any action under sub-sections (1) and (3) shall be paid by the person in whose possession such animal, food, drink, drug, utensil or vessel was at the time of its seizure and no claim shall lie for compensation for any animal or article so destroyed.
