Qualification for election as Mayor or Councillor- (1) Subject to the provisions of this Act, a person who is enrolled in the Municipal electoral roll as a voter, shall be qualified to be a candidate- (a) for the election of Mayor, if he is not less than 25 years of age; and (b) for the election of Councillor, if he is not less than twenty-one years of age. (2) No person who is a candidate for any one ward shall be a candidate for any other ward. (3) Any person who ceases to be a Mayor or a Councillor shall, if qualified under sub-section (1), be eligible for re-election as such. (4) If a person is elected for the Office of Mayor and Councillor both, he shall have to resign from one of the office within seven days from the date on which he is declared elected.
