Every officer, making an enquiry under these rules shall day by day enter his proceedings in the diary book, setting forth the time at which the information reached him, the time at which he began and close his investigation, the place or places visited by him, and statement of the circumstances ascertained during his enquiry. He shall also record the statement of all persons summoned as witnesses and he shall record separately the statement of the accused as to whether he is willing to compound or not, he must take the signature of the accused to this. Statement. Save as provided in rule 251 no person attending the enquiry shall be detained after its completion.
