(I) Any offence punishable under this Act may either before or after the institution of Compounding of pthsecution be compunded by such officers on payment of such amount as the State Government may, by notification, in the office Gazette specify in this behlaf. (2) Where any offence has been Compounded 'under sub-section (I), the offender, if in cbustody, shall be discharged and no further proceedings shall be taken against him in respect of such offence.
