Closure or stoppage of work in certain circumstances illegal- A closure or stoppage shall be illegal, if it is commenced or continued- (a) with the object of compelling the Central or State Government or any public servant to take or abstain from taking any particular course of action in regard to an industrial matter; where the Central or State Government is not an employer in the industry concerned; or (b) if such closure or stoppage is in support of or in sympathy with a lockout or a strike which is illegal under this Act or the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 (XVI of 1947) or any other law for the time being in force, whether or not in the same industry or undertaking.
