Short title, extent and commencement. ––(1) This Act may be called the Jammu and Kashmir (Residential and Commercial Tenancy) Act 2012. (2) It extends to all urban areas of the State : Provided that the Government may, by notification in the Government Gazette, exclude or include any area or units or class of buildings from, or within, the operation of the Act or any provision thereof. (3) It shall come into force from the date of its publication in the Government Gazette.
