Section 6

Term of office and conditions of service of members

(1) Every member shall hold office for a period of five years. (2) Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-section (1) a member may-- (i) by writing under his hand and addressed to the Government resign his office at any time; (ii) be removed from his office in accordance with the provisions of section 11. (3) A vacancy arising by reason of resignation or removal of any member of the Commission under sub-section (2) or otherwise shall be filled up in accordance with the provisions contained in section 5: Provided that a person so appointed shall hold office for the remaining period of the term of the person in whose place such person is appointed. [(4) The members shall receive a fixed honorarium and other allowances and shall be governed by such conditions of service, as may be prescribed: Provided that the fixation of the honorarium shall be without taking into consideration the past service rendered by the person in any capacity before his appointment as a member.] Substituted by Act 6 of 2002 w.e.f. 20/04/2002
