Section 21

The Management Council

The Management Council shall consist of the following members, namely:-- 1. Ex-officio members (i) The Chancellor; (ii) The Pro-Chancellor; (iii) Member of Parliament representing the Constituency where the University Headquarters is located; (iv) Member of the Legislative Assembly of the Constituency where the Headquarters of the University is situated; (v) The Vice-Chancellor; (vi) The Secretary to Government (Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Department); (vii) The Secretary to Government (Finance Department) or an officer not below the rank of Additional Secretary appointed by him; (viii) Secretary to Government Law Department or an Additional Secretary nominated by him; (ix) Director of Animal Husbandry Department; (x) Director of Dairy Development Department; (xi) One nominee of Indian Council of Agricultural Research not below the rank of Deputy Director General; (xii) One nominee of the Veterinary Council of India; (xiii) Deans of Faculties; (xiv) Directors of Academics and Research and Entrepreneurship; (xv) President, Kerala State Veterinary Council; (xvi) Director of Agriculture; (xvii) Director of Employment and Training; (xviii) Director of Centre for Development Studies; (xix) The Registrar, who shall be the Member-Secretary of the Management Council. 2. Elected members (i) Two members elected according to the principle of proportional representation by means of single transferable vote by the members of the Legislative Assembly from among themselves of whom one shall be a Member belonging to Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe; (ii) One member elected by the students elected according to the principle of proportional representation by means of single transferable vote from among the regular students of the University; (iii) Three members elected by the teachers of the University from among themselves according to the principle of proportional representation by means of single transferable vote; (iv) One member elected from non-teaching staff elected according to the principle of proportional representation by means of single transferable vote; (v) One member from the permanent labourers of the University elected according to the principle of proportional representation by means of single transferable vote. 3. Members nominated by the Chancellor: (i) Two eminent Scientists in the field of Veterinary and Animal Science from the University or within Kerala; (ii) Two progressive livestock or poultry farmers, of whom one shall be a woman.
