[(1) The Vice-Chancellor shall, appoint Finance Officer on the recommendation of the Selection Committee constituted for such purpose, as prescribed by the Statute, with the approval of the Governing Council. The term of office of the Finance Officer shall be four years from he assumes office or till he completes the age of fifty six, whichever is earlier. The Finance Officer shall be a full time salaried officer of the University.] (2) The Finance Officer shall manage the funds and investments of the University and shall advise with regard to its financial policy. (3) The Finance Officer shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor in the preparation of the budget and statement of accounts of the University. (4) The Finance Officer shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for ensuring that no expenditure not authorized in the budget is incurred by the University and shall disallow any expenditure which may contravene the terms of any Statute or Ordinance or for which provision is required to be, but not made by the Statutes or the Ordinances. (5) The Finance Officer shall be responsible for revisions of the budget when such revision is required in the interests of expediting new programmes or for any other reason and for expediting the approval of the budget. Prior to the Substitution it read as: "(1) The Finance Officer shall be a full-time salaried officer of the University and shall be appointed by the University Governing Council on such terms and conditions as it may deem fit."
