[(1) A person with postgraduate degree in the respective faculty subjects and not below the rank of Professor, with at least five years of teaching experience in the post of Professor and having other qualifications, prescribed in the Statute, shall be appointed as Dean of each Faculty: Provided that in the case of post of Dean of the Faculty of Fisheries, a degree in Fisheries Science obtained from a University recognized by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research and other qualifications notified by the Council, from time to time are also needed.] [(2) The term of the Dean shall be five years or until he attains the age of sixty, whichever is earlier. Salary and allowances of the Dean shall be same as that of a senior professor in the University Grants Commission scheme and special allowance shall also be given on a monthly basis, as prescribed.] [(3) The Dean shall be a full-time salaried officer of the University and shall have all the academic, administrative and financial responsibilities and powers relating to the faculty concerned.] [(4) The Dean shall be responsible for carrying out the teaching, research and knowledge extension activities, for attaining academic progress, for maintaining the standards of teaching, for providing training to the teachers, and for implementing the academic policies of the faculty, approved by the Academic Council.] [(5) It shall be the responsibility of the Dean to convene meeting of the Faculty Board of Studies concerned, as may be necessary and to preside over such meetings.] (6) Dean shall be responsible for formulating policies and development programmes of the Faculties and submit them before the concerned authorities for consideration. (7) Dean shall be responsible for implementing decisions of Senate, Governing Council and Academic Council in connection with the Faculties and for the academic development of the Faculty. (8) Dean shall be responsible for taking decision on the complaints of students in the matters of enrolment, qualification, migration, scholarship, studentship of freeship, extension of tenure and admission to University Examination subject to directions and restrictions of the Vice-Chancellor. (9) Dean shall have the power to conduct continuing enquiry in the matter as directed by the Academic Council, if the University Department of any other institution conducting enquiry and reported their finding before the Academic Council regarding the irregularities occurred in the matters connected with the academic progress of the constituent faculties. (10) Dean shall have power to prepare proposals for fellowships, scholarships and other distinctions related to the constituent faculties and the same may be submitted for the consideration of the Academic Council. [(11) It shall be the responsibility of the Dean to implement the decisions of the Faculty Board of Studies, protect the best interest of the Faculty and the University and to codify the functioning of various departments. (12) Those who are permanently appointed as School Directors on the date of commencement of the Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (Amendment) Act, 2021, in the University, shall be appointed as Dean of the Faculties, except Fisheries.
