Infectious disease in canal boats—— Where any loca] authority within whose local area a canal or any part of a canal is situate, is informed that a person on board a canal boat is suffering from an infectious disease, such authority 4 121 shall cause such steps to be taken as may be necessary for preventing the said disease from spreading and for that pur- pose may exercise the power of removing a person suffering as aforesaid and ail other powers in relation to provisions against infection conferred by this Act and may also, if need be, detain the boat, but such boat shall not be detained for a longer time than 1s necessary for cleansing and disimfect- ing the same which in no case shal] exceed forty-eight hours.
