(1) In this Act, unless there is anything repugnant in the subject or context-fa) "court" includes any officer lawfully exercising Civil, Criminal or Revenue jurisdiction; and (b) "Inspector-General" means the Inspector-General of a prison; (c) "prison" includes any place which has been declared by the Government by general or special order, to be a subsidiary Jail; (d) "State" means the State of Travancore-Cochin. (2) All references to prisons or to imprisonment or confinement in Parts III, IV and V of this Act shall be construed as referring also to Certified Schools or to detention therein.
