(1) Every Thiruppuholder entitled to compensation under sub-section (2) of section 3 shall apply to the compensation officer within one year from the appointed day for determination of the compensation payable to him. (2) Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-section (1), the Government may suo motu direct the compensation officer to determine the compensation payable to any Thiruppuholder.
