Every distribution licensee shall purchase the quantum of renewable energy required to meet its renewable purchase obligation preferentially from the renewable energy generating units within the State if available, with the prior approval of the Commission, and at the tariff approved by the Commission. Provided that, considering the environmental concerns, the distribution licensee shall necessarily purchase the electricity generated from municipal solid waste, with the prior approval of the Commission at the tariff approved by the Commission.
