Appointment, powers and duties of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor.—(1) The Syndicate shall appoint a person recommended by the Vice-Chancellor as Pro-Vice-Chancellor under the provisions of this Act and Statutes made thereunder and he shall be a whole time salaried officer of the University: Provided that, the first Pro- Vice-Chancellor shall be appointed by the Government on the basis of such conditions determined by the Government. (2) No person who is more than sixty years of age at the time of appointment shall be appointed as the Pro-Vice-Chancellor. This is a digitally signed Gazette. Authenticity may be verified through https://compose.kerala.gov.in/ 69 (3) The term of appointment of the Pro- Vice-Chancellor shall be for a period of four years and if found eligible for reappointment, subject to the provision of this section, he may be appointed for the next four years also: Provided that, the term of office of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor shall be co-terminus with the term of office of the Vice-Chancellor. (4) The salary and other conditions of service of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor shall be as may be prescribed by Statutes. (5) The powers, responsibilities and duties of the Pro- Vice-Chancellor shall be as may be assigned to him by the Vice-Chancellor from time to time.
