Section 21

Finance Committee

(1) There shall be a Finance Committee of the University consisting of the following members, namely:-- (i) the Vice-Chancellor; (ii) the Secretary to Government, Finance Department or an officer not below the rank of Joint Secretary nominated by him; (iii) the Secretary to Government, Higher Education Department or an officer not below the rank of Joint Secretary nominated by him; [(iv) the Pro-Vice-Chancellor;] [x x x x] and (v) the Registrar. (2) The Finance Committee shall have the following powers, namely:-- (a) to review the financial position of the University, from time to time, and to make recommendations to the Syndicate on all matters relating to the finance of the University; (b) to examine the annual budget estimates of the University and to advise the Syndicate thereon; (c) to make recommendations to the Syndicate on all proposals which involve expenditure not contemplated in the budget or in excess of the provision of the budget; (d) to exercise such other powers as may be prescribed by the Statutes. Inserted by the Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit (Amendment) Act, 2008 (Act 7 of 2009) (w.e.f. 09/06/2008). Omitted by the Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit (Amendment) Act, 2005 (Act 1 of 2005) (w.e.f. 06/01/2005). Prior to the omission it read as: "(iv) the Principal Dean of Studies;"
