All societies registered or deemed to be registered under the Travancore-Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act,1955 (12 of 1955) or under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 (Central Act 21 of 1860) and have valid registration for the time being by filing return in time on the date of commencement of this Act, shall be deemed to be registered under this Act: Provided that, in case any society which has not filed return in time, on the date of commencement of this Act, the Government may, by notification, specify a period in which it is to be filed.
