Subject to such orders as may be issued by the Government, every land-holder shall pay to the Collector or to any officer authorised by the Collector in this behalf, the public revenue due on any land held by him or the whole or any portion of any kist or instalment of such revenue on or before the day on which it falls due and the land-holder shall be entitled to a receipt signed by the Collector or such officer, as the case may be, for the payment so made. Whenever the payment is made by a person on behalf of the land-holder, such receipt shall also contain the name and address of the person who makes the payment.
