(1) The Superintendent may utilize the services of prisoners in accordance with the rules for the day-to-day administration and management of the prison. (2) Prisoners, who are appointed as officers of prisons as per rules prescribed, shall be deemed to be public servants within the meaning of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 (Central Act 45. of 1860).
