Subject to the provisions of the Act and the Rules and the lawful orders and directions of the Director General of other superior officers in the respective zone, the Superintendent of a prison shall, manage the prison in all matters including admission of prisoners, allowing visitors inside the prison, security of the prison, labour correctional programmes, expenditure, discipline, punishment and control and release of prisoners with the aid of his subordinate officers.
