Subject to the provisions of any law for the time being in force and conditions which may be prescribed, every officer of a prison shall,- (i) treat every prisoner impartially and with humanity; (ii) hear any complaint or report made by a prisoner and redress his grievance; (iii) maintain discipline in the prison; and (iv) exercise or perform his powers and functions and discharge his duties promptly and effectively.
