(1) Every person engaged in work in any trade establishment or commercial establishment or industrial establishment or in any other establishment in the private sector who is eligible to vote in the Panchayat election shall be granted leave on the day of general election. (2) The wages of any such person shall not be reduced or disallowed on account of the leave granted under sub-section (1) even though such person is appointed on the basis that wages will not ordinarily be paid for such date, he shall be paid the wages that would have been received by him on such date, had he not been granted leave for that day. (3) This section shall not be applied where, the absence of the voter may be injurious or causes substantial loss to the work in which he is engaged.] Inserted by Act 31 of 2009 dt.07/10/2009
